Abden "Don" A. Lore, Jr.:  Don was born February 11, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas to Abden A. Lore, Sr. and Louise Pearce Lore. He passed away at 81 years young, peacefully at his home in Scarborough, Maine with his family, on May 2, 2024, after a long illness.

Don served in the Navy Reserves from 1962-64, Army Military Intelligence (Army Security Agency) from 1964-68 during the Vietnam era war in Germany and later the Army Rotary Wings in 1978. He was honorably discharged, 1964, 1968 and 1978.

Don's family moved to Delaware where he graduated from William Penn High School after his time in the Army, he used the G.I Bill and received Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Florida Atlantic College. Don worked for Palm Beach College for 17 years working his way from Veteran's Administrator to District Registrar for four campuses. He took early retirement in 1996 to relocate to Maine where his wife Rita Marie Pinkham Lore was raised and had many family members.  He worked at the Dunstan Ace Hardware store for a few years and then was hired as an Education Tech III at Scarborough High School.  During the Christmas break of 2002, Don had a massive left hemisphere stroke that made it impossible for him to finish his Teacher Certification in Maine and left him disabled.  He made incredible progress at rehab and learned to walk again and drive his stick shift Dodge Ram. Don also had receptive and expressive aphasia which made communication exceedingly difficult for him, but he persevered. He was able to live independently caring for the children while Rita worked. Don was Rita's motivator to complete her Bachelor's degree which she received in 2005. He lived 21 years post stroke and only losing his ability to walk two weeks before his death. His independence and family were his greatest motivation.

Don was predeceased by his mother, father, brother James Lore and his daughter in law Emmie Provencher. He is survived by his sister, Dottie Lore of Boise, Idaho and her three children, Amy, Michael and Thomas. His wife of 31 years, Rita, two sons; Martin Lore and his stepchildren, Starlee McKenna and Corbin Bouchard with his sons Christian and Riley Lore of Rumford; Patrick Lore of Scarborough and three daughters, Katrina Littlefield and her three sons, Michael, Kaileb and Kameron of Litchfield, Brittany Lore and her son Solomon Foster and Kristina Lore of Portland.

Don had many hobbies and talents, he excelled as a musician (1st Trumpet), mechanic, plumber, carpenter, hunter, trapper, artist, leather crafter, computer programmer, Boy Scout instructor, chef, scuba diver, and fisherman.  His greatest gift was wood working. He was a meticulous cabinet maker and boat builder. He assisted his father building Lore Craft wooden boats in Delaware and later fully installing cabins in his father's 72.5' yacht (houseboat), in Florida. Don and Rita both completed their Degrees with the Oak Hill Grange #104.

A Celebration of Life will be on May 9, 2024, at First Light Church of the Nazarene (FLCN) in South Portland at 10:30 am, followed by a reception at The Rock Church (TRC) in Scarborough at noon.
