Delray Beach, FL & Prouts Neck, Maine–Alexandra (Alix) White Smith, 85, of Delray Beach, Florida & Prouts Neck, Maine, died peacefully at home in Maine on September 19th, 2024. She was surrounded by many friends and family.

Alix was born to the late Sally Sprague Kirkland and Ogden White in New York City on May 26, 1939. She attended The Chapin School and Foxcroft School, and carried many enduring friendships made at these schools throughout her life.

Alix married Robert (Bobby) E. Strawbridge III in 1964 which ended in divorce in 1984. She married Marcus W. Smith in 1986.

Alix leaves behind Alexandra Strawbridge Maurer and her husband Richard K. Maurer of Scarborough, Maine, Anita(Nini) Strawbridge of Jackson, Wyoming, and Robert E. Strawbridge IV of New Zealand, and 7 grandchildren, as well as her sister Patsy White Timpson and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by Marcus W. Smith, her brother Ogden White and sister Sally White Lee.

Alix cherished all of her friendships both new and old. She had a gift of making a new friend feel welcomed into her world. Her zest for gathering people around her deck at cocktail hour in Maine never waned, and will be missed by many.

Her children give thanks for the excellent care of Kind Senior Care and Hospice of Southern Maine of which her smooth transition would not have been possible.
