PORTLAND – Alpha Cruz Anastacio, 33, passed away unexpectedly in South Portland on November 29, 2023, in a tragic car accident.

She was born in Manila, Philippines, on January 26, 1990, the daughter of Danilo L. and Ma Dolores (Arietta) Cruz.

Alpha graduated from South Portland High School and went on to earn her Associates degree from National Technical Institute.  She was a certified phlebotomist at Maine Medical Center in Portland and was later promoted to pre-analytic supervisor at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.  She was also a beloved nail tech at House of Nails.

She was very active in the Filipino and Asian business communities and a member of the Filipino American Samahan of Maine.

Alpha was passionate about cooking traditional Filipino, Asian and American food with her mother and their dishes were frequently shared throughout the community.  She was an extremely active and loving family member, friend, and world traveler.  She could update you on the latest status of any Korean drama shows and the band BTS.

She was predeceased by her father, Danilo L. Anastacio, and sister-in-law, Diana Lau.

Survivors include her mother, Ma Dolores C. Anastacio; sister, Mita C. Anastacio; brothers, Zohrel C. Anastacio and Jefrey C. Anastacio; partner, Johny Hong.

Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough.  A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service.
