SCARBOROUGH – Alvinia Williams, 91, of Scarborough, died on July 27, 2026.
Alvinia was born November 22, 1934, the daughter of Elmer and Nellie Sawyer. She was educated in Scarborough schools and graduated from Scarborough High School, Class of 1952.
She was married to Lester Williams for 25 years.
During her employment career, Alvinia worked for Union Mutual, Country Kitchen, Maine Savings Bank, Peoples Bank and TD Bank.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and computer games. She also loved casinos and traveling, having visited Hawaii, Ireland, England, Iceland, and the Caribbean Islands.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Patricia and brother Ted.
Alvinia is survived by her son Brian Williams (fiancée Barbara Graves) of Windham; grandson Daniel Williams (wife Patty) of Saco, grandson Randall Williams (wife Ashley) of Buxton; great grandchildren Gavin, Patrick and Parker Williams; brother David Sawyer (wife Pat) of Maine/Florida; sister Evangeline Dougherty of Scarborough; many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 7, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, followed by interment at 2 p.m., at Dunstan Memorial Cemetery, U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, located next to the funeral home.
