Annemarie Gautreau passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on Sept. 8th, 1962 in Worcester Mass. She graduated from West Boylston High School, Class of 1981. She got her Bachelors of Science, with a focus in OT from UNE, class of 1993.

She was predeceased by her father, Achilles “Jack” McLaughlin and her nephew, Johnathan O’Brien. She leaves behind her beloved husband, George; her daughter, Emily Packard, and her husband, Jesse, and their two children, Sierra and Charlie; Her sisters, Maureen McLaughlin, her partner, Laura, and their granddaughter, Lillyanna; her sister, Mary, and her partner, Peter; her three nephews, Pat and his family, Peter and his family, and Alex; her brother John McLaughlin and his partner, Karen; and her sister, Kate Hancock, her partner, Doug, and their three children, Chris, Cameron, and Molly. Her mother Marilyn McLaughlin

She loved cooking and always added her own special spin to every dish, making each meal uniquely her own. Cooking was one of the ways she showed her love for family, especially her grandchildren. Her brownie recipe will live on through the ages as it was her favorite to make for her granddaughter. She came up with unique recipes from scratch, like Nana ‘ookies for her grandson. Annemaire would take a look at a recipe and make it 10 times better.

As an occupational therapist, she also devoted her life to caring for others, especially the elderly. She found great fulfillment in working with the elderly, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life. She had a genuine love for the people she cared for and understood the importance of patience, compassion, and encouragement. Through her work, she helped others navigate daily challenges, regain abilities, and continue doing the things that mattered most to them. Her caring nature and dedication made her profession more than just a job; it was a way to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. She brought kindness, understanding, and a personal touch to her work.

She loved the ocean and the beauty of living in Maine, where the changing seasons, coastal views, and peaceful rhythm of life brought her happiness. The ocean held a special place in her heart, offering a sense of peace and connection to the natural world. Maine was more than just home; it was a place where she could enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Her love for family, her unique creativity in the kitchen, and her compassion for others will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue through the many lives she touched, both personally and professionally.

Many thanks to the caring staff at Maine Medical and neighbors (Carolyn) and friends for all their help.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to one of the following organizations that held a special place in her heart:

  • Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, where the family adopted their beloved black Lab, Sophie.

  • Labs4Rescue, where the family adopted their beloved chocolate Lab, Marty.

  • Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, in honor of her memory.

A Celebration of Life for Annemaire will be held in July in her neighborhood. In honor of her wonderful baking, we invite you to bring your favorite recipe of Annemaire’s to share as we celebrate her life, cherish our memories, and remember the joy she brought to so many through her love of baking.
