Sarasota, FL - Bruce Fritzson of Sarasota, Fla., passed away Feb. 9 in Scarborough after a battle with cancer.

Bruce was born on Nov. 1, 1950, to Albert and Myrtis Fritzson in New Britain, Conn. Bruce graduated from Kingswood School in West Hartford, Conn., and subsequently attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, where he formed a number of lifelong friendships.  He graduated with a Masters of Business Administration degree from Rutgers University.

After graduation, Bruce moved to Portland, Maine, and joined the public accounting firm of Arthur Young and Company. He became a Certified Public Accountant and moved through the ranks of Arthur Young, attaining the level of principal. He also served as the director of personnel.  Subsequent to Arthur Young's merger with Ernst and Whinney, Bruce left the firm to join Otis Atwell in South Portland as a partner. Throughout his career, Bruce's greatest joy was establishing relationships with his clients and assisting them with all of their accounting and business needs.

Bruce especially enjoyed traveling, both with his wife, Vicki, and his daughters, Emily and Natalie. After the end of each tax season, there was always a trip planned during school vacation week.

Bruce was an avid golfer.  He was a lifetime member of Falmouth Country Club, having joined even before the course was built. He was also a previous member of the Board of Directors. He was a regular member of a weekend foursome throughout the years.

Bruce was a stoic, no-nonsense man, which made it even more rewarding when his family was able to amuse him with their nonsense. He will be remembered by his family with the image of him sitting in his beloved recliner, wearing his worn-out New York Giants sweatpants.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Victoria Whited; his brother, Paul Fritzson (wife Kim) of Carrabassett Valley, Maine; daughter, Emily, of Farmington, Conn.; and daughter, Natalie, of Santa Fe, N.M.

Visiting hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
