Scarborough - Bruce Gullifer, resident and employee of the Town of Scarborough, Maine for the majority of his life, died this week at the age of 61.  Bruce was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed teaching those around him.  He worked for the Town for over 30 years, becoming the Community Service Director responsible for hosting all the town events and organizing new town projects.  He loved making a splash for Scarborough, from putting on the annual Summerfest with massive fireworks show, to pushing for major public use improvements like the Skate Park, Eastern Trail, Memorial and Wiley Fields and so much more, Bruce always put the people of Scarborough first.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Marilyn Guiggey; his brother, Bret Gullifer; his son, Connor Gullifer and his step-son, Christopher Tyson.  He is predeceased by his father, Wayne Gullifer.

Bruce was an avid skier, hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed all things outdoors.  He loved these activities so much that in 2006 he got his Maine Guide's license just to educate himself even more.  He coached the Scarborough High School Varsity Soccer team from 1990-1998 until he decided to coach his son Connor, spending the next several years going to multiple practices a week and long weekend trips out of state for both soccer and hockey games.  "Coach Gullifer," as many still refer to him, had an immense impact on so many people's lives and will be remembered for all his contributions to Scarborough and to the individuals around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and everyone that he touched throughout his life.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday, April 1 ^st from 2-4 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4 PM, and a reception from 5-7 at Hobbs Funeral Home, Scarborough, Maine.  In lieu of sending flowers, the family would appreciate it if you would donate for the purpose of placing a bench along the Eastern Trail in Bruce's name.
