Carole Reid, 91, of Scarborough, went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2025, surrounded by family.

Carole was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 14, 1934, the daughter of James and Anna (Lenosky) Cortez.

Carole worked in the accounting offices of Sears, Roebuck Co. and for Northeast Airliner in N.Y.C.  Since moving to Maine in 1967 she worked in the Scarborough School Lunch program; as admin secretary for South Gorham Baptist Church and counted it a privilege to have been employed as office manager for the Billy Graham Crusade in Portland.

When her children were in school, she was involved in their activities.  Carole also delivered Meals on Wheels, taught Sunday School, led Pioneer Girls, was a former member of the Friends of the Library and Scarborough Garden Club.  She was also a former deaconess at First Baptist Church in Portland and worked in the nursery. She spent several years at Church Camp, helping in the kitchen.  She was blessed to be able to prepare monthly luncheons for the Greater Portland Evangelical Ministries Assembly for many years.

Her favorite pastimes were traveling with her husband Dick, cooking, baking, reading, and entertaining friends and family.

She and her husband were avid hockey fans of the Portland Pirates and staunch supporters of their grandsons' baseball and hockey teams.  She greatly enjoyed attending grandson Sam's drama club presentations.

The biggest joys in her life were her family and friends, her church and volunteering at the Root Cellar on Munjoy Hill.  Carole was known for her sharp wit, love of New York City and The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.  She had a love of sweets and was always trying to recruit someone to take a road trip to Pennsylvania.

The family would like to thank the tireless and steadfast commitment to Carole that was shown by Cape Memory Care in the last two years of her life, along with Beacon Hospice that kept a diligent watch, with a special thanks to Emily and Michelle.  The family is forever grateful.

Carole is predeceased by her husband Richard Reid, son Alan Reid and son-in-law Daniel Larrabee.  She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Moore and husband Bob of Sacramento, California and Lori Larrabee of Scarborough, son Richard "Beau" Reid and his wife Kathy of South Portland, and three beloved grandchildren, Justin Reid and wife Sarah of Bridgton, Sam Larrabee and wife Colleen of Edmund, Oklahoma and Josh Larrabee of Scarborough along with three great grandchildren, Ashlyn Reid, and Theodore and Rosemary Larrabee, and Justin's mother, Kelly Reid of Scarborough, along with many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, followed by a reception at the funeral home.
