SANFORD - On November 11, 2022, Cheryld Ann Letourneau, 67, ended a long and bravely fought battle with dementia. She was surrounded by family and supported by her many loved ones in her final days.

Cheryld was born on January 14, 1955 to Joseph and Helen Pickrell. A graduate of South Portland High School, she excelled in history and enjoyed athletics. Cheryld spent her early career at Hannaford, eventually becoming an office manager for the supermarket chain. In 1981, she married Gerard Letourneau and welcomed her only child, a daughter named Noell. Cheryld balanced motherhood and a demanding career with ease. However, in 1987 at the age of 32, she was suddenly widowed and put her career on hold to devote her time to raising her daughter. While she later worked in retail and held other office manager jobs, if you were to ask anyone, being a mother was Cheryld's greatest joy and role in life.

Described by her family and friends as spunky, sassy, strong, sarcastic and sweet, she was the life of any party and spoiled those she loved. She and her two sisters were more like best friends who relied on each other as they grew up, and this was a relationship that continued throughout their adulthoods. Cheryld's sense of humor, goofy antics, and infectious laugh instantly endeared her to those she met. She prided herself on maintaining a pristine and well-decorated home. She also dressed to the nines wherever she went and had a style all her own. Cheryld loved to travel and loved the water. The beach, Sebago Lake, and Aruba were all places she treasured and traveled to whenever she could. She was well known for dropping all her beach gear and diving right into the water no matter how cold it was! She could sit in the sun for hours. The salt of the sea and the sand of the beach were integral parts to her soul.

Cheryld is survived by her daughter, Noell Egeland, her two sisters, Beverly Dow and Vickie Deveau, and her brother, Joseph Pickrell Jr. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her unique spirit lives on in her energetic, fearless and quirky grandson, Simon. She will forever be in our hearts and our most special memories.

A celebration of life service will be held at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland Maine 04106 on November 14th, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
