Obituary

Claudia Cameron Lackee, of South Portland, was born October 3rd, 1940. She passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center on September 15th, 2024, following a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

Claudia was born and raised in San Francisco, California alongside four other siblings. It was there that she met the love of her life, Franklin Pierce Lackee. They married and had one son, Franklin Cameron Lackee. In 1989, Claudia and Franklin moved to Franklin's home state of Maine to be closer to Claudia's step-children: Virginia Ward, Grace Cleaves, and George Lackee – Franklin's children from a prior marriage. In 1999, Claudia's love sadly passed away, and she dedicated the rest of her life to her family and friends. She was a lifetime athlete, both in California in the amateur tennis ranks, and in Maine on the Maine Senior Olympic Basketball team. She was part of many groups and clubs, but she had a special affinity for her basketball ladies.

Claudia leaves behind one son, Franklin Lackee, his wife, Nina Lackee, and her beloved grandchild, Harper Lackee.  Although they only got 9 years together, Claudia and "Grammys Girl" had a special bond that will endure forever. She remained especially close to her husband Franklin's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until her last breath. She will be especially missed by her sister and best friend, Kathleen Watson, who she spoke with every single day.

Claudia was fiercely independent, hard-working, and selfless to anyone in need. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her friends and her family. Claudia will be missed incredibly by all who knew her.

There will be a private burial for immediate family at Calvary cemetery on Friday September 27, 2024 at 1:00PM.
