Cape Elizabeth - Constance (Connee) Turcotte, formerly of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, passed away on November 8, 2022 in her home in Peabody, MA. She lost her husband, Guy Turcotte, in 2000. Her two daughters, Denise Turcotte and Lecia Turcotte, survive her.
Connee was born on March 14, 1928 in Uxbridge, MA to Frank E. Phillips and Mary C. Phillips (Rondeau). Connee graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1945. During her high school years, she assisted the war effort as a trained civilian airplane spotter in the Air Warning Service. Every plane spotted over Uxbridge was plotted on a board and phoned into Boston.
After high school, she attended the Chandler School for Women in Boston from 1945 to 1947. Her first job was with Dr. Winthrop Osgood, the Superintendent of Memorial Hospital in Worcester (now known as UMASS Memorial Medical Center). Her second job was Executive Secretary at Hartford Hospital, where she met her future husband, Dr. Guy Turcotte, MD. They married and moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine in May 1956.
While in Maine, Connee supported Guy in his psychiatric practice as a bookkeeper and secretary. She also had many volunteer roles including the Maine Medical Center Auxiliary, Cape Elizabeth Garden Club, Cape Elizabeth Light House, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Senior Olympics. She volunteered countless hours at the Cape Elizabeth Police Department.
Connee stayed in Maine for 13 years after the death of her husband. In 2013, she moved to Brooksby Village, a senior living community in Peabody, MA, to be near her daughter Lecia and her husband Stuart Scantlebury. Brooksby is just ten miles from their home in Beverly Farms, MA. Daughter Denise and her son-in-law, Stephen Frazier, live in Springfield, VA. They made the nine-hour trip to Massachusetts several times each year for the last nine years.
On Monday November 14, there will be a funeral mass for Connee at 10am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation online at t2t.org or by mailing a check to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
