With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Daniel "Danny" Robitaille, 74, of East Waterboro.  He passed away on December 19, 2024, in a Biddeford, Maine hospital, due to a history of heart complications.  Daniel was surrounded by family when he passed.

Daniel was born on April 21, 1950, to parents Laura Elizabeth (Boulet) Robitaille and William Joseph Robitaille.  Daniel went to Baxter School for the Deaf in Falmouth, Maine.  He excelled in basketball at Baxter, where he was also an honor student.  He had many friends who graduated with him in 1969.  Daniel was born in Sanford, but grew up in South Portland, where he lived with his mother for many years.

Daniel married Janice Sinclair on January 11, 1975.  They had two children, one of which passed away at birth.  He and Janice later divorced.

Daniel was a printer at Emery Waterhouse for 25 years and continued to be a printer for 14 additional years, at Wise Business Group.  He was also a very important member of several deaf organizations throughout his life, as he was a deaf mute himself.

Daniel enjoyed watching basketball, football, baseball, NASCAR, and wrestling.  His favorite teams were the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox – a true New Englander.  He would spend lots of time playing basketball with his daughter in the summers of her teenage years.  Daniel loved spending time with his family and friends and was always looking forward to the next party or gathering.  He was a funny man and was known for pulling fun pranks on his loved ones.  He thoroughly enjoyed exploring different craft fairs, car shows, and the Oxford Casino.  He also filled his free time at home with creating beautiful puzzles, playing cards, and watching television.

Daniel took pride in being an American and showed it with many decorations of eagles and American flags riddled throughout his home.  He also obtained quite the impressive baseball hat collection, most of them featuring his favorite sport teams.  This collection was heavily contributed to by his daughter, who would get him a new hat on every birthday.  Daniel also liked to find odd coins and add them to his collection as well.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Laura, his brother Ronny, and his son Michael.  He is survived by his daughter Laura, his granddaughter Elizabeth (Ellie), his grandson Daniel, his great granddaughters, Alivia and Harlyn, and his "brother" Rusty.

Daniel's celebration of life will be held sometime in the spring, at his home.  Please contact the family directly for more details.  It will be a potluck, so please feel free to bring a dish!

Daniel's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who has supported and loved him throughout the years.  They also extend a special thanks to the medical professionals who helped him through his unhealthy medical journey.

Daniel will be missed but never forgotten.  He touched many people's lives throughout his lifetime and became a friendly face around the community.  He put up a tough fight, but now, may he rest in peace.
