Obituary

Scarborough, Donald McGregor Rose, 1933-2025

Don's life was 92 years of a life well lived.  Words have poured in describing him.  Fair, quiet, wise, non-judgmental, adventurous—to name a few. His life began in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Receiving degrees from Walnut Hills High School, University of Cincinnati and Harvard Law School. While in Boston he met the love of his life, Constance.  After marrying, his service in the Navy took them both to Subic Bay in the Philippines.  Eventually they settled into Cincinnati to raise a family.  Don was a partner at Frost Brown Todd for 35 years.   One of his fellow partners shared, "Don was one of the last gentleman litigators."  He had an incredible talent to state his opinion in court without being rude or overbearing.

He faithfully dedicated time to Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, Methodist Theological School in Ohio along with reading to the blind.  And not to forget being on the ever-important sewer committee in Bayville, Maine where they summered.  On both land and sea Don adventured.  He sailed the coast of Maine and in winter backpacked the mountains of Kentucky.

Don lovingly guided his family through life. As a father to two daughters, he cheered them on through their education, careers, marriages and children—always providing fun along the way.  He was a devoted husband to Connie be it while traveling the world or enjoying a jazz club. He is survived by Connie, his daughter Barbara and her husband Bill Burgess, their five children and one great grandchild.  And also, his daughter Ann and her husband Bob Weston and their two children.  He set a great example of living an honest balanced life of hard work and play.  Papa, may the wind always be at your back.
