Obituary

Eleanor Barnhart passed away at 101 years old, peacefully surrounded by caregivers.

She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia and grew up on a farm in Harrison County, West Virginia.

She became very fond of animals in her early life on the farm. She had one older sister, Emily Windows, that helped her move to New York City to get her B.S. degree from Columbia University. She was married and widowed three times to Cameron Ives, David Tholl, and William Barnhart. She worked as a hospice volunteer, Red Cross volunteer, and at H&R Block. She enjoyed people, family and friends and being a caregiver. She was a  very compassionate and caring person that loved her family, friends and pets.

She is survived by her children, Emily Dionne and Gus Ives, her daughters-in-law, Sandy Tholl and Candee Kaknes, her son-in-law, Ron Dionne, and her stepson, David Tholl. She also has many grandchildren, Isaac Ives, Rebecca Wick, Naomi Ives, Spencer Hall, Hillary Hall, Robert Tholl, Alicia Douglas, Kirste Simmons, Marlena Tholl, John Tholl, and Larry Tholl. She has many great grandchildren as well.

A memorial service is planned for September 7th, Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road in South Portland, ME.
