It is with profound sadness that we announced the passing of Francis Charles Laperriere on June 11, 2023 in South Portland after living with carcinoid cancer for more than 20 years.

Frank was born April 12, 1942 in Wilmington, NC to Joseph A. & Gertrude L. (Filieo) Laperriere.  After the death of his father the family returned to Maine where he attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1960.  After high school he enlisted in the USAF serving in the 6910th Radio Division, first in Germany & then remote Alaska.  Upon his discharge he returned to Portland and enrolled in computer classes at Plus School of Business, garnering him a job at Albany Felt Co.

In 1965, he married Patricia Ferguson in Albany.   After the birth of their son, Paul, he applied for jobs closer to home & family and found his career home at W.R. Grace Co. in Cambridge, MA where he  remained until retirement in 2010.

In retirement he became interested in genealogy and spent considerable time investigating the lineage of both his family & Pat's.  It was something he was very serious about.  In the 90's, he & Pat bought a camp in Windham, and that became his ongoing DIY project.  It was his pastime & his hobby.

Frank was predeceased by his parents, sisters Joan M. Foster of Cornish & Gertrude L. Elliott of  Michigan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia, a devoted son Paul Laperriere and his wife Lisa of Tewksbury, MA, and loving daughter, Christine Wilcox of Lawrenceville, GA.  He is survived by four grandsons, Devin, Cameron & Ethan Wilcox & Andrew Laperriere, and one beautiful granddaughter, Emily Grace Laperriere, each of whom he was incredibly proud.  Frank is survived by a sister, Dottie (Dennis) Berry of Gray & a brother, Joseph A. (Le) Laperriere of Houston, TX.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins, as well as his beloved cat, Matilda.

Per his request, there will be no service.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Frank thanks all of you who have walked this life path with him whether it was for a minute, a mile or a lifetime.  He was eternally grateful to our neighbors, and they know who they are, who always appeared at exactly the right time.
