G. Paul Falconer

June 7, 1934 – January 31, 2026

George Paul Falconer, 91, of Westbrook, ME (and longtime resident of Winslow, ME), passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. He was born to George Falconer and Mary (Curtis) Falconer on June 7, 1934, in Shirley, Maine. The youngest of six, Paul spent his youth on Borestone Mountain in Monson, ME. Growing up in Maine's rich wilderness, Paul became an avid outdoorsman early on. Hunting and fishing became two of Paul's many passions at a young age, beginning as a pre-teen and continuing well into his adult life. He later became a registered Maine Master Guide, using his expertise in the Maine outdoors to lead, educate, and ensure the safety of others.

Paul's life can be best described as a lifelong act of service. After graduating high school, Paul joined the Marine Corps and served for 3 years, earning the rank of Sergeant. In 1957, Paul joined the Maine State Police, retiring as a captain after 23 prestigious years of service. Paul established several special response teams including the Tactical Team, the Dive Team, the Bomb Squad, and Hostage Negotiators. Paul's body of work and dedication to serving the state of Maine led to him being honored with the title of "Legendary Trooper," a title currently shared with only 37 others.

After retiring from the Maine State Police, Paul started a new career with Cianbro, serving as both Training Director and Safety Director. After retiring from Cianbro in 1991, he and his wife started Falconer Associates, focusing on safety consulting and training. Though he had multiple careers throughout his life, he always prioritized serving others in everything he did.

Paul married the love of his life, Christine (Labun) Falconer on May 3, 1958. He was very proud of the family they raised together. He is survived by his wife Christine and their four children: Eric Falconer (and Kelly Bell), Terry (and Mark) Maroon, Bruce (and Lee) Falconer, and Robert (and Elaine) Falconer. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul's faith was central to his life, and it showed in the way he interacted with everyone he met. Throughout his life of service, both professionally and personally, and with how he raised his family, his faith was at the forefront. He was very involved in many church organizations and as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as a proud member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 US Route 1 in Scarborough. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 150 Black Point Road in Scarborough, with a reception to follow in the church hall.
