George Larry Mosher
Englewood, FL – George Larry Mosher, 82, of Englewood, Florida, formerly of Scarborough, Maine, went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2023, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on August 9, 1940, in Wilton, Maine, the son of Raymond and Birdena (Palmer) Mosher.
Larry graduated from Wilton Academy and later went on to earn his Mortuary Science Degree from the New England Institute in Boston MA.
He married Mary Kilponen on October 14, 1961, and they shared sixty-one wonderful years together. On March 21, 1963, they became the proud parents of their son, Larry.
Larry and Mary resided in the greater Portland area from 1965 until 2002, when Larry and Mary decided to make Florida their permanent home.
While living in Maine, Larry was employed as a licensed funeral director at several funeral homes, the most recent of which was Hobbs Funeral Home, where he worked until 2002. After he moved to Florida, Larry worked as a licensed funeral director for Farley Funeral Homes in Venice and Northport.
Larry was a devout Christian and a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene in South Portland, Maine and Venice, Florida. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Scarborough, Maine, and the Maine Funeral Directors Association.
He enjoyed camping, boating, walking, attending southern gospel concerts and doing jigsaw puzzles, but most of all, Larry loved spending time with his family.
Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good friend. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Betty Worden. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; son, Larry S. Mosher and his wife, Kimberly of South Carolina; granddaughter, Samantha M. Bethea and her husband, Jordan of North Carolina; grandson, Austin J. Mosher of South Carolina; sister, Sally Kingsbury of Scarborough, Maine; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held in the fellowship hall at Venice Church of the Nazarene, 1535 East Venice Avenue, Venice, Florida 34292 on Wednesday, August 23 at 12 noon followed by a luncheon.
