George E Sakash of Cape Elizabeth, ME died on Sunday August 31, 2025 at his home in Cape Elizabeth, ME with family at his side. He was born in Lawrence, MA on August 14, 1950 to the late George and Ada (Noonan) Sakash. He is survived by his wife Sallie (Hanf) Hilse Sakash of 36 years, his son Ryan of Columbus, OH, stepsons Matthew Hilse and wife Susan of Saco,ME, Eric Hilse and wife Lynn of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and David Hilse and wife Lisa of Davidson, NC, his brother Ronald Sakash and wife Virginia of Wells, ME and his sister Kristina of Ocean View, DE. He also leaves six grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers Peter and John.

George graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry NH in 1969 and then backpacked on a trip to Europe and went on a cross country trip in the United States upon returning from Europe. George then relocated to Ohio where he graduated from the Patrol Academy and served as a Deputy Sheriff for several years. Looking for a change in careers he was hired in the Operations Department for a manufacturing plant. When the plant closed he became Operations Manager for Owen's Corning (metal building insulation division) in Orlando, FL which was then sold to Therm-All Metal Building Insulation. Because his heart and home had always been in New England, he and Sallie moved to Maine in 2000.

He was able to gain experience in the collision repair business and was hired by Moody's Collision as a Parts Manager. This was, in his mind, the best company he had ever worked for. George worked for them for fifteen years and retired in 2022. When he was in the hospital, he told anyone who would listen that if they needed to get their car repaired, make sure and call Moody's.

George requested that there would be no services and that his ashes be scattered in the ocean so he could continue his travels.
