Scarborough – Henry G. (Bill) Beyer, 78, of Scarborough passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation in Portland.

Bill was born in Milton, MA to Audrey (White) Beyer and Walter Archer Beyer.  He graduated from Milton Academy in 1963 and continued his education at Harvard University in Cambridge, graduating in 1967 with a B.A. degree.

Bill dedicated much of his life to helping others through organizations such as the Salvation Army, United Way and several others.  He was a member of the Lions Club (both Maine and New Hampshire).  His real passion was for the Salvation Army, contributing both financially as well as his time.  He was an active member of their Advisory Board and served as President before moving to New Hampshire for a new job with Meredith Village Savings Bank.

He served for ten years as President of Meredith Village Savings Bank before retiring and moving back to Maine.  He loved working at MVSB, loved the people who worked with him and was proud of his involvement with the communities in that area.

Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Beyer; daughter Alison Willis, her son Clayton; son John Beyer, his wife Mindy and their son Kyler; his stepson Brian Leavitt, his wife Stacie, their daughter Kayli and son Jesse.

Bill's family extends their appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and nurses on p6 at MMC and to the St. Joseph's staff for their attention and loving care during his brief stay with them.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, ME.
