Hurshell Alexander Crossman, Jr was born May 20th 1947, in Portland Maine to Beatrice and Hurshell Crossman, Sr. He grew up on Willard Beach, getting himself and all the other neighborhood kids in plenty of trouble. He graduated from South Portland High School, class of 1967 and was voted best dancer year after year.

He graduated from SMVTI with an associates degree in Culinary Arts. He then attended and graduated Pierre’s Beauty School in 1970 where he fell in love with his profession! Hurshell owned his own salon “House Of Hair” for over 55 years. His loyal customers and their families became Hurshell’s family too.

His daughter Robyn Lyn was the light of his life and she blessed him with two beautiful grandchildren, Zasu Alexandria and Zachery Andersen.

He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Richard Andersen, his daughter Robyn, his great nephew Wyatt Bragdon and his parents Betty and Hurshell Crossman.

He is survived by his sisters Jeraldyne and her husband Steve of Scarborough, Donna and her husband Mark of West Columbia, SC, nieces and nephews, Tracy, Jim, Todd, Caryn, Kim, Mark, Marcy, Christy, and Joshua. Great nieces and nephews Mercedes, Jake, Jason, Mariah, Jesse, Mackenzie, Madison, Jacoby, Bronson, and his grandchildren Zasu and Zach and son-in-law Bryan White and his wife Susan.

A Visitation will be held at Hobb’s funeral home on Cottage Road in South Portland, Friday June 12th from 12:30 - 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00p.m. with a reception to follow at Portland Country Club, Falmouth from 3:30p.m.-6:00p.m.
