Jacqueline Odell Lemieux Hansen, age 92, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on May 4, 2024. Her loving husband, Walter, was at her bedside.  Jacqueline was born in Westbrook, ME.  She graduated from Westbrook High School, where she met her High School sweetheart, Walter Hansen. They began their 72 years of marriage in 1951.  She was a founding member and long time parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Scarborough, ME.

Jacqueline studied at the Massachusetts School of Art. She also studied pastels and ink drawing with Roger L. Deering of Portland and Kennebunk, ME.  As an accomplished artist, she contributed significantly to the art world through her painting, interior design and fiber art.  After raising four children, she pursued her passion for her art. Her first medium was paint, then she moved to stenciling and theorem painting.  Rug hooking first started as a hobby and she then mastered the techniques and went on to develop a national reputation. She has traveled extensively throughout the country teaching this style of fiber art. She wrote articles for the national magazine, "Rug Hooking" and published her book, "Sculptured Rugs in Waldoboro Style".  Her rugs continue to be shown at rug hooking shows and exhibits as examples of Waldoboro Style Rugs. Her business, "Jacqueline Designs" and later "1840 House" brought much joy to many through teaching and designing patterns. Jacqueline was a member and past president of the Maine Tin Pedlar's group, and a member of the National Association of Traditional Hooking Artists and Maine Craftsmen.

In addition to her art, she loved to decorate her many homes and loved to garden.  In her retirement, she loved her Boston Red Sox and Celtics.  She and Walter were regulars at Pat's Pizza in Scarborough on Monday nights enjoying the 2 for 1 spaghetti special!  They also loved dancing and were known to "cut a rug" to Big Band Swing Music.  She loved spending time with her family and was loved by all.

She is survived by her husband Walter, her sons Christian III (Darlene) of Virginia, Gregg (Deborah) of Colorado and Michael (Elizabeth) of Auburn, ME, and her daughter Heidi Flaherty (Peter) of Old Orchard Beach, ME, her 13 grandchildren, Christian IV and Samantha of Virginia, Pearl, Ross, Carl and Erica of Colorado, Shane and Heather of Texas, John, Amelia and Laura of Maine, Sean and Jennifer of Maine, and 17 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seaside Healthcare and Nursing Home and Northern Light Hospice for taking such good care of our mom.

We will come together at Hobbs Funeral Home in Scarborough to celebrate Jacqueline's life on May 14th. Visiting hours are from 3-6p.m.
