James Fryer (September 28, 1942-March 25, 2025)

After a lengthy and courageous battle, Jim Fryer, 82, of Buxton, passed away peacefully on March 25, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim was the most patient, kind, and loving soul, a mild-mannered man whose warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew him.

Affectionately known as "Papa," Jim was not only a pillar of strength for his family, but also an incredibly talented handyman who could fix just about anything. He shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Judy, a love story that spanned over 6 decades. Jim and Judy created a beautiful life together, residing most of their married years in Guilford CT, before moving to Maine in 2013 to be with their daughter, Tricia and her family.

Jim proudly served in the National Guard for six years before building a career at Southern New England Telephone Company, where he held various positions before retiring in 1995.

Above all, Jim's greatest joy in life was supporting and loving his granddaughters. Whether braving the rain, freezing temperatures, or the sweltering heat, he was always there—cheering on the sidelines, courtside, or at the rink, beaming with pride. His unwavering love and devotion to his family were at the heart of everything he did.

Jim also found great love and companionship in his favorite dogs, the "little fellas", Trapper and DeLuca, who were always by his side, bringing him joy and comfort.

Jim's kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who were lucky enough to know him.

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy Fryer, daughter, Tricia Mokriski (Ciaran) and granddaughters Ali and Kate Mokriski.
