Jean Y. Lindsey died at age 96 on July 7, 2026, in Scarborough Maine. 

Jean was born April 25, 1930, in Rockland, Maine, daughter of Almon and Marion Young. She grew up in Rockland and was valedictorian of her high school class. Jean was active in civic organizations. With her husband Dale, they built their first house and raised a son, Bruce, and a daughter, Marcia. Eventually Jean and Dale moved to Scarborough, where they raised their granddaughter Stephanie and saw her off to college. After that, for the next quarter century, they continued to live independently in their house and enjoy visits with many friends and neighbors. 

Jean was predeceased by her sisters Frances and Stella, her brother Almon, Dale, her husband of nearly 76 years, daughter Marcia, and granddaughter Stephanie. 

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law.
