Jennifer Andrew Silberman
Jennifer Andrew Silberman, 76, left us unexpectedly on November 1st, 2026 at her home in Strafford, New Hampshire.
She was born December 31, 1949 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Laurence Clyde Jr. and Virginia Andrew of Windham, Maine. Jennifer spent her childhood years in Windham before moving to Boston for college to study fine art at Cambridge Junior College, and then ultimately graduating from Boston University School of Fine Art. She spent years learning, practicing, and immersing herself in any and all mediums of art.
Jennifer spent time teaching art in Boston area schools before moving to Strafford, New Hampshire with Mark Silberman to start a family and bask in the rural life. There, they started Sweet Core Farm apple orchard, which became a cherished meeting spot in town. Jennifer balanced running the family farm stand while raising her two children and helping with after school programs. Her vibrant personality and dedication to Strafford quickly made her a beloved fixture in her community.
In her decade as a paraprofessional at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, she helped carry her student’s heavy burdens and made life a little lighter, better, and happier for them. She was guided by her empathy and desire to help others, and this true kindness made her a student favorite who had long-lasting impacts on their lives.
She was a gardener, artist, loving mother and grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, putterer, tinkerer, and home project fix-it dabbler. Everything she did was done with a profound sense of love and humor, as well as an unmatched ability to laugh at herself.
Jennifer found beauty and usefulness in every object she saw. This, of course, made her a world class collector of trinkets, antiques, clothing, electronics, shoes, papers, home goods, and everything with a yellow sale sticker at the Salvation Army, generally much to everyone’s loving chagrin.
She was lively, zany, kooky in the best way, and filled with laughter. We’ll cherish these aspects as well as her enthusiastic body gestures while telling stories and recounting her latest adventures, most often accompanied with snorting laughter. Her warmth, New Englander grit & spirit, and compassion for everyone she crossed paths with will be impossible to forget.
Jennifer is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, daughter Megan Silberman Jones and granddaughter Elora Jones of New Hampshire, and son Ben Silberman and his long-time partner Sarah Hebbel-Stone of Brooklyn, New York.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring when the warming sun and emerging perennials mirror her bright and sunny disposition and love of the planting season. Official date and location will be announced closer to that time.
