John Derrig made his final transition on the morning of September 1, 2024. He was a loved member of his family and a beloved friend to many.

John is survived by his mother, Michalene; his brothers Tommy and Tony; his sister Monica; sister-in-law Stacey, ex- wife Colby and his daughters Delaney and Cassandra (Dominic). He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Dominic and Francesca, and many nieces and nephews whom he deeply cherished: Heather (Mike), Anthony, Desiree, Alanna, Nicholas, Anthony, Aubrey, Travis, and Landen. He was preceded in death by his father, Pat.

John lived his life with resilience and a heartfelt wish for his children's safety in an often unpredictable world. Although our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find solace in the knowledge that he is no longer suffering. In his final moments, John expressed profound pride in his children, finding comfort in their independence and determination to pursue their dreams.

A celebration of John's life will be held at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland on September 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. All are welcome to join in honoring his memory and reflecting on his life.
