Poland - John F. Dube III, 73 of Poland, Maine passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2023 at St. Mary's D'Youville Pavilion following a long illness. He was born October 15, 1949 in Portland, Maine to John F. Dube Jr and Alice (Thomes) Dube. After graduating from South Portland High School in 1968, he attended Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute completing an Electronics degree in 1970.
From an early age, John had a strong aptitude in electronics. He opened JD Electronics in Portland Maine in November 1976, and moved the business to Poland, Maine in October 2000. During the 1980's he was the only authorized Atari Service Center in Maine. Over the past 14 years he designed and built tube amplifiers and enjoyed listening to music.
He enjoyed creating digital projects and displays including a Christmas tree and a sleigh with reindeer that traveled across his front yard. John also enjoyed making neon signs and designs. He made a neon star as part of his Christmas tree decoration and a neon pumpkin that he would display in the fall for Halloween.
He was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments. John leaves behind Cynthia Dube; two sons Stephen Dube and his wife Denise of Auburn; granddaughter Meghan DeNicola; Thomas Dube and his wife Londa of Beaver Creek, Ohio and grandsons Brent and Jake; granddaughters Kaitlyn and Alyssa.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother David Dube. He leaves two older sisters, Sharon KeslerCote and her husband Steven Morin of Skowhegan; Cheryl Jones and her husband Douglas of South Portland, and a younger brother Mark and his wife Sharon of Gray. John also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and CNAs at St. Mary's Hospital and D'Youville Pavilion for their excellent care of John.
The family invites all to attend a viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Hobbs Funeral Home located at 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, ME 04106.
