Obituary

Wellesley, MA - John Elliott Lafferty passed away peacefully on the morning of March 16, 2025, at the age of 77 after a long illness.

John was born in Boston, MA and grew up in the surrounding area, spending most of his life in Wellesley, MA.  He graduated from the Rivers School in 1966, then attended Franklin and Marshall College, graduating in 1970.

John was known for his 1932 Model A, often giving rides to friends, nephews, or dates.

After college, his work in commercial and rental real estate took him from Rochester, NY, to Waterville Valley, NH, and finally back to Wellesley, MA. He retired from his most recent role as Executive Director of the Rental Housing Association and Commercial Brokers Association at the Greater Boston Real Estate Board in 2017.

John could be found most days greeting neighbors while on walks on the Brook Path across town.  He recently moved to Cape Elizabeth, ME to be closer to his daughter, Katherine, and some of his favorite local bakeries.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Parker Lafferty, whom he met in Waterville Valley, NH and married in 1976.

He is survived by his two daughters, Alexandra Lafferty and Katherine Lafferty; his son-in-law, Lorenzo Cadamosti; sisters, Margo Babb and Susan Lafferty Laidlaw; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at The Wellesley Village Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley, MA 02482, on Saturday April 26th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
