Judith Ann Hill, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully at home in Scarborough on May 16, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 11, 1940, in Lewiston, Maine, Judy was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Ann (Minkowsky) Pratt. Judy grew up in Portland, graduated from Deering High School, and began a lifetime filled with cherished memories.

Judy’s life was a legacy of love, understanding, perseverance, and joy. In 1958, a simple stop at a gas station changed everything—Judy met Raymond C. Hill, her soulmate. Their love grew quickly, and they married at Woodford’s Church in Portland on June 6, 1959. Together, Judy and Raymond built a warm and welcoming home, raising their family with care, laughter, and devotion.

Judy was not only a loving wife and mother but also a dedicated worker at Maine Battery and Oak Hill Dry Cleaners. Summers were spent at the family camp on Raymond Pond, surrounded by family, friends, and countless moments of laughter. Judy found deep happiness in Maine’s natural beauty, camping at state parks and creating memories that would last for generations.

After bravely overcoming breast cancer, Judy became a beacon of hope for others. She devoted her time and heart to the American Cancer Society, guiding women through recovery with compassion and understanding that touched countless lives. Her commitment was recognized by the State of Maine with invitations to the Blaine House—an honor reflecting her impact and warmth.

Following Raymond’s passing in 2014, Judy found comfort and renewed purpose in community. Grieving support groups led to lasting friendships and simple joys: playing cards, bus trips, lunches at St. Anne’s Church, volunteering with the Red Hatters, and afternoons at the Scarborough Public Library. Judy’s warmth brought people together, and every gathering was brighter because of it.

Those who knew Judy will always remember her deep love for hummingbirds. Their beauty brought endless delight, filling her home and camp with feeders, ornaments, and mementos. Hummingbirds became her signature—worn proudly and cherished deeply, a symbol of thoughtfulness, resilience, and joy for life.

Judy was predeceased by her husband Raymond; her sister Claudia and brother‑in‑law Richard Lowell; and two grandsons, Dana Moy and A.J. Hill. She is survived by her brother Bruce Pratt and wife Maureen; daughters Laurie Moy (husband Eric) and Linda Gregor; sons Raymond Hill, Jr., and Arthur Hill (with Lisa Laskey); six grandchildren; eleven great‑grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:30p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, Maine. Interment to follow at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery.
