CAPE ELIZABETH - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Karen Elizabeth (Gesen) Pierce of Cape Elizabeth, ME passed away on January 3, 2025.
Karen lived a full life and especially enjoyed meeting and helping people in all the communities where she lived. She was very active in church and other community activities. Most recently at the First Congregational Church of Scarborough, ME and served as Scribe for the Scarborough Food Pantry for over 20 years.
Karen was born January 14, 1936, in Concord, NH to Carl Gesen and Margaret (Jackman) Gesen. She was raised in Concord and attended The Concord School.
In 1956 Karen graduated from Colby College in Waterville, ME majoring in German and Music. Also, while attending Colby she met her future husband Peter G Pierce of Rockport, MA.
Karen and Peter were later married on December 20, 1958. They built a life together in New England living in Manchester, NH, Ipswich, MA and later moved to Stockton Springs, ME. Karen and Peter fell in love with the state of Maine and decided to make it their home.
Karen and Peter moved to Calais, ME and finally to Cape Elizabeth, ME.
Karen is survived by three children: Andrew Pierce and wife Ghanea, Benjamin Pierce and wife Brendalee, and Ellen (Pierce) Parenteau and husband Jean Pierre along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Karen will be surely missed and long remembered.
No services will be held.
