Kathy L. Kingsbury, 60, of South Portland, passed away at Maine Medical Center, while surrounded by her loving family, on April 9, 2025 after a long struggle with kidney disease.

Kathy was born in Farmington, ME to Richard and Sally (Mosher) Kingsbury on March 6, 1965. She moved to Scarborough, ME when she was 4. She received her education through the Scarborough school department - graduating from Scarborough High School in 1984 - and ultimately went on to study at Casco Bay College.

Throughout high school, Kathy worked for the Hallmark Card Store at the Maine Mall until it closed. She also had a long career in the insurance and banking industries - most recent being cPort Credit union.

Kathy had a variety of interests. She found joy in knitting and crocheting baby blankets and sweaters for family and friends and looked forward to creating and sewing her themed Halloween costumes for work. She was an avid reader; local authors were among some of her favorites. She loved cooking for family and friends - one of her favorites things to do was baking holiday treats for work and family gatherings. She also enjoyed gardening, taking care of mom's blueberry bushes, jewelry making, redecorating and doing small renovation projects on her house.

Kathy was passionate about helping with Wreaths Across America - she assisted with placing wreaths on veterans' sites here in Scarborough cemeteries.

She had a profound love for animals and fostered several cats and kittens - many of which ended as foster fails and remained with her. She loved her dogs Penny, Tia and the most special of them all, Maddie.

Kathy is survived by her mother Sally (Scarborough), her sister Kelly (Scarborough), her nephew Joseph and his wife Kristin (Presque Isle), a great nephew Griffin (Presque Isle) and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th from 2-4 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Rt 1, Scarborough.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Kathy's name are asked to consider the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook, ME.
