Larry Willis Huntley, 80, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Portland, Maine. Born on August 31, 1944, he was known for his deep love for his family; forever unwavering, unconditional, and wholehearted. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Larry proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator, initially with Risbara Bros. Construction in the 1980s and later with the City of Westbrook, where he continued until his retirement in 2019.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 48 years, Linda, his sons Larry and wife Michelle of Buxton, Kenneth and his partner Melissa of Scarborough, his daughter Melisa and her partner Darren of Windham, and his grandchildren, Erik and Mikella. His life was preceded by his parents and his brother, Sonny. He is also survived by his siblings Debbie, Marjorie, Kenny, and Doreen as well as several nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Larry was an enthusiastic sports fan, passionately following NASCAR, the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 8th from 4-6 PM followed by a celebration of life at 6 at the Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland, where friends and family are invited to share stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Snell Foundation https://www.snellfoundationmaine.org/support-us . The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Braun for the years of support and dedication to Larry's care.
