SOUTH PORTLAND – Lauri Robert Martin, 85, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough.

He was born in Cloquet, MN, the son of Wilho J. and Audrey (Dow) Martin.

Lauri served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Hospital Corpsman.  He enrolled at Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, CA, and graduated with a Master's degree.  Lauri then pursued an educational career at Orange Coast College, CA, where he became Professor of Photography, retiring after thirty years.

He was a member of the Maine Spaniel Field Trial Club.

Lauri enjoyed surfing, motorcycle riding, painting, and journaling.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Pat Simmons.

Survivors include his wife, Susan C. (Larsen) Martin; son, Josh Martin and his spouse, Skylar Dormier; sister-in-law, Karen Pennell Hood and brother-in-law, Norman Hood.

Services will be private.
