Mellen
Dec 13, 1927 — Oct 22, 2024
Scarborough - Leona Frances Mellen, was blessed by the LORD to live 96 years, and passed away on October 22, 2024.
Leona was a loving Christian woman who went home to be with her LORD and Savior on October 22, 2024.
She was born 12/13/1927 in Caribou, Maine, as the daughter of George Drost and Marie Good Drost.
She was the wife of Daniel Joseph Mellen, who predeceased her in 1996.
Leona was Mom to Bonnie Porter, Barry Mellen (wife Robin), Dean Mellen (wife Judy), Steven Mellen (wife Cindy), and was predeceased by her daughter Danna Mellen.
Leona was Nanny to 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many family fur-babies.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Portland, Maine, where she served in many roles, such as deaconess, summer camp worker, Sunday School teacher, children's worker, and Church office volunteer.
She and her family were decades long residents of South Portland, Maine. The most important thing in Leona's life was her love for God. The second greatest love was her family. She loved preparing food for family gatherings and sending everyone home with full bellies. She sacrificially gave all that she had to make life better for every member of her family, friends and people who God brought into her life.
During her golden years she loved reading and assembling puzzles.
