Lois M. Davis, 94, died on August 24, 2022, at Westwood Ridge Senior Living community after a brief illness.

Lois was born in Schenectady, NY, on June 8, 1928, to Harold A. and Mary E. MacKinnon. Lois grew up during the Great Depression and World War II. In 1948, Lois married her husband Walter, who she met at Bates College in Maine. After college she had a brief career at General Electric as an assistant to the executive team. She then became a dedicated, full-time homemaker and mother, making each of her homes welcome and inviting for family and friends. She brought laughter and warmth to all she encountered.

Lois and Walter returned to his home state of Maine. They spent summers there and winters in Arizona. Lois ran a cottage rental business on Maine's rocky coast, where many of her customers became fast friends. Among her favorite activities were gazing at the ocean and creating beautiful flower gardens. Lois also loved volunteering at various school libraries and helped organize the libraries at Piper Shores, in Maine, and Westwood Ridge in Minnesota. She was also very involved at The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, in Green Valley, Arizona, where she set up their kitchen and organized the Women's fellowship.

Lois was predeceased by her sister, Jean Rogers, her brother, Robert H. MacKinnon, and her husband, Walter O. Davis. Lois is survived by her twin brothers, Richard A. MacKinnon and William P. MacKinnon, her sons, Randy and Scott, and her granddaughter, Abigail Davis.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland at 10:00 a.m.  After the service, those who wish to witness the scattering of Lois' ashes, may follow the family to Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth.  A reception will follow at the Elizabeth Hobbs Hospitality Center in South Portland.
