Lorraine M. Johnson, 96, of South Portland, Maine passed away peacefully, September 5, 2026, while visiting her daughter in Bangor, Maine and surrounded by her loved ones. Lorraine was born in Portland, Maine on April 6, 1930, to the late Christina and Chester Dodge. She was survived by her daughter, Susan Coolbrith, son Paul Johnson, sisters Brenda Cook (husband J. Cook), and Gloria Page (husband David Page). She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Charles, son, Butch Johnson, son-in-law Herbie Coolbrith, and daughter-in-law Patricia Johnson. She was also predeceased by sisters Betty Norton, Angie Watts and brother Lewin (Snookie). Lorraine was also survived by seven grandchildren, Karen Axelsen (husband Jamie), Chuck Johnson (partner Jane Nelson), Jennifer Johnson, Katrina Cote (husband James), Kevin Coolbrith (partner Anna Gellerson), Paul Michael Johnson and Jessica Rinaldi (husband Joseph); and eight great grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Katherine Axelsen (partner Liam Norris), Jack Cote (partner Hailey Welch), Ashley Cote, Madison Coolbrith, Aiden Rinaldi, Tyler Cote and Grace Rinaldi. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lorraine was the matriarch of the Dodge/Johnson family and will be deeply missed by all those that had the pleasure of knowing her. After their retirement, Lorraine and Charlie were able to travel all over the United States and spending winters in Florida in their motorhome. After Charlie’s death, Lorraine continued to live independently up until the end of her life. She would always have stories to tell; and she had pictures to share when you came to visit her. You might leave with a random object or item that you didn’t come with as she loved to give stuff away. Lorraine had quite a sweet tooth and would always have a piece of cake on demand for anyone that wanted one. She enjoyed cooking, not just for herself but for others as well. She was a Red Sox fan and recently, she loved watching WBNA. She loved visiting Bug Light with family and friends and feeding the birds and squirrels at her apartment. She lived life to the fullest extent possible and only wanted the best for her family and loving them unconditionally.
