Lydia May “Brackett” Lorrain, 83, of South Portland and Gorham, Maine, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born on January 17, 1943, in North Windham, Maine, Lydia was the daughter of Earnest and Dorothy “Gilford” Brackett of Hiram. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Edward “Eddie” Lorrain, who passed away on March 3, 1985, after 14 years of marriage. Lydia was known for her caring heart, strong faith, devotion to her family, and the love she shared with those around her throughout her life.

A devoted Christian, Lydia was deeply involved in her church family at Cornerstone Church in Scarborough, ME as well as many others. Her faith guided every aspect of her life, and she faithfully supported many ministries and charitable causes over the years. One that was dear to her heart was feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving for many years. She found great joy in serving others, encouraging those around her, and sharing kindness wherever she went. Lydia formed many lasting friendships through her church community and cherished the fellowship and support of her many dear friends.

Lydia was a hardworking woman throughout her life while raising her children. She worked for many years at Fairchilds and Sears in South Portland. Later in life, she owned and operated her own cleaning business, where she met many people and became well known and well liked for her friendly personality, dedication, and strong work ethic.

Lydia is survived by her daughter, Rachel Martin and her husband Greg of Sebago, ME; her sons, Bruce “Eric” Wilson and his wife Diane of Estero, FL, Daren Lorrain of Youngstown, Ohio, Ryan Lorrain of Gorham, ME and her stepson, Steven Lorrain and Jen of Boothbay Harbor, ME. She was predeceased by her son, Terrence “Terry” Wilson of Kezar Falls, ME.

She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren whom she adored: Walter Wilson of Sanford, ME; Quanah Wilson of Kennebunkport, ME; Marshall Wilson of Estero, FL; Abigail Martin of Biddeford, ME; Adam Martin and his wife Jaden of Parsonsfield, ME; Nathaniel Martin of Sebago, ME. Most recently, Lydia was blessed with her first great-granddaughter, Emery Mae Wilson of Estero, FL, whom she was able to meet and hold before her passing.

Lydia came from a large and loving family and was one of eight siblings. She is survived by her brother, Albert Brackett and his wife Peggy of Brooksville, FL; her sisters, Ruth Boynton of Deerfield, NH, Norma Brackett of Epping, NH, and Pauline Brosig of Bridgton, ME; and her brother, Linwood “Lindy” Brackett of Deerfield, NH. She was predeceased by her brothers, Winfield “Honeyboy” Brackett of Texas and Norman Brackett of St. Petersburg, FL. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Lydia will be remembered for the love she had for her children, grandchildren, extended family, and her unwavering faith in God. Her spirited personality, fun sense of humor, strength, generosity, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family remembrance will be held at this time, with a celebration of Lydia’s life to be announced in the future.
