Lynn E. Wells 1955 – 2026

SOUTH PORTLAND – Lynn E. Wells, 70, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by care and compassion at Maine Medical Center on May 6, 2026.

Born in Portland on December 3, 1955, Lynn was the cherished daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Margery E. (Campbell) Murphy. She grew up in Cape Elizabeth and South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1974.

Following high school, Lynn attended Westbrook College, where she earned her CNA certification. She began her career caring for others at the South Portland Nursing Home, where she worked until 1985. Lynn then devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and creating a warm and loving home for her family.

In 1995, Lynn returned to work with the South Portland School Department as an Education Technician, serving students and staff at Kaler and Small schools until her retirement in 2020. She was deeply appreciated for her kindness, patience, and gentle spirit, and she formed many lasting friendships during her years there.

On June 3, 1978, Lynn married the love of her life, William E. Wells. Together they shared 47 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, family, and travel. They treasured visits with family and friends in Texas and California and built a life centered around the people they loved most.

Lynn found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family. She especially loved cooking for her children and grandchildren, attending their activities, and volunteering whenever she could. Her home was a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome, and the memories created there will be cherished always.

Lynn is survived by her devoted husband, William E. Wells; her daughter, Melanie A. Haynes; her sons, Michael K. Wells and Aaron E. Wells; her brother, Daniel K. Murphy and his wife, Michele M. Murphy; and her beloved grandchildren, Bridget, Brady, and Beckett Haynes, all of South Portland.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff and residents of Pinnacle Health & Rehab for the comfort, kindness, and companionship they provided during Lynn’s stay.

Lynn’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Private funeral services will be held by the family. A celebration of Lynn’s life will take place at a later date.
