Marilyn Weymouth MacLeod, 94, passed away on September 12, 2024, in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Marilyn Ann Weymouth was born on August 1, 1930, in Belfast, Maine to Gladys and Keith Weymouth.  She graduated from Belfast High School and went to Gorham State Teacher's College (now University of Maine at Gorham) where she was graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 1951.  It was at Gorham that she met her husband, George H. MacLeod whom she married in 1952.  In 1957, they made their home in South Portland, Maine,  which is where Marilyn lived until the last few years.

Marilyn's biggest passion was teaching lower elementary grades and then in later years, Reading Recovery.  After her retirement from the Frank I. Brown school in 1997, she kept that passion alive by participating in Delta Kappa Gamma and College Club which are organizations that support teachers and scholarships for students.

Marilyn will be remembered for her commitment to family, generosity, and kindness. She had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and rescued 3 furry companions later in life.

After George passed away in 1998, Marilyn bravely faced living alone.  She had an inner strength that allowed her to move forward.  She even discovered that she could use a Kindle to stay in touch with her family and to read all kinds of interesting things on the web!

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, George H. MacLeod.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Jim Stockless of Framingham, Massachusetts, and her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce MacLeod and Dawn Huston of White River Junction, Vermont.  She leaves behind 5 grandchildren - Lauren, Keith and Anne Stockless, Pearl MacLeod, and Rose Huston MacLeod.  Marilyn also leaves behind Stacy Harris Meserve, who was a dear friend and second daughter to her.

Visiting hours will be at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland, Maine on Tuesday, September 17 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm.  A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held at a later date. Burial will be privately held in Morrill, Maine.
