Marjorie Ruth
Macleod
Sep 2, 1933 — Sep 20, 2024
It is with great sadness to share the passing of our beloved mother, Marjorie R MacLeod on Friday September 20 at Maine Medical Center. She grew up in Standish, Maine and graduated from high school there. She met and maintained many friends from school. Upon her family moving to the Morrill's Corner area of Portland, she met and married the most wonderful man, Ralph MacLeod. They fell in love and were married shortly after in March 1952. Ralph was in the Air Force at the time and came home to welcome their first child, Carol, in March 1953. They had two more children Holly and Scott of South Portland. Marjorie was a secretary in the medical field her whole career working at Maine Medical Center, for Dr's Maxwell and Roediger, UNUM, and Martin's Point. She was living with her daughters for the past few years in South Portland and her son just down the street.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1985, a nephew Kevin Segal, brother-in-law Ralph Segal, son-in-law James Calvert, her mother Ruth Webb, and her brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Marilyn Webb.
Marjorie is survived by her 3 children Carol Calvert, Holly, Scott MacLeod and his wife Janice, her sister Pauline Segal, 2 grandsons Matthew Schwarz, Chad MacLeod and his wife Laura and a new 2-year-old great-grandson, Owen whom she adored. Marjorie was lucky to have a lot of neighborhood kids who loved her, and she watched many of them grow up. We have many wonderful and caring neighbors who she was friends with too.
Per her wishes, there will be a small, private graveside service prepared by Hobb's Funeral Home in South Portland.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful first responders from South Portland who provided her with extraordinary care and MMC Emergency Department who took exceptional care of her and kept her comfortable.
