Mark  A. Bernier, 68 of South Portland, passed away peacefully in his sleep while surrounded by his loving family on the 5 ^th of January.  Mark was one of four brothers and graduated from Westbrook High School in 1973 where he excelled playing baseball.  Mark worked for Fairchild Semiconductor as a plumber for 31 years.

In 1982, Mark married the woman of his dreams who took his breath away, Donna Pettengill.  The untamable Mark was now tamed by Donna, and he wouldn't have it any other way.  She blessed him with two children, Jakob and Tayla.

Mark was a devoted father. Whether it was taking Jake to hockey practice at 2am or driving Tayla all over New England for her dance competitions, Mark was always there.  He thought he was quite the avid dancer himself, having invented what he liked to call "The Bernier Shuffle".  He never ceased to bring hilarity to whomever saw him bust that move!

Friends and family were always laughing when he was involved in the conversation, as he had witty one-liners and hardly ever had a serious tone.  Mark loved to laugh and make others laugh as well.  It made Mark the happiest to see others smiling.

Mark was predeceased by his father and mother Omer and Doris Bernier of Westbrook, ME, daughter Kory May Bernier and his father-in-law Robert Pettengill.  Mark is survived by his wonderful wife Donna of South Portland, daughter Tayla and husband Joe Gouzie of Windham, ME, his son Jakob and fiancé Sandra of Pooler, GA, brothers Paul, Norman, and Gary along with sisters-in-law Cathy and Diane, mother-in-law Jean Pettengill, and grandchildren Benjamin, Samuel, Amelia, Violet, Mabel, and Liam.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM at the Hobbs Funeral Home 230 Cottage Road South Portland, Maine 04106. Graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
