Martha Louise
Johnson
Sep 6, 1960 — Dec 20, 2023
Martha Louise Johnson - Waterboro, Maine
Martha Louise Johnson passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 20th, 2023. Born in Sicily on September 6th, 1960, to Nancy Stott (Kilmister) Johnson and Jesse Lewis (Lew) Johnson, Martha, an avid golfer, was known to be a kind and generous spirit with many cherished friendships within her close knit community and beyond.
While growing up in the Meeting House Hill area of South Portland, where Martha attended Roosevelt Elementary, Mahoney Junior High, and South Portland High schools, she enjoyed endless Girl Scouting adventures, including those as a summer camp counselor and life guard. Martha also thrived in the First Congregational Church's Youth Ministry program, cultivating more dear and lifelong friendships and creating countless precious memories.
After graduating from her alma mater in 1979, Martha continued her studies at UVM, obtaining an undergraduate degree in nutrition. She further pursued her love of science, graduating from URI College of Pharmacy and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a Doctorate in Pharmacy, a field in which she practiced for more than 20 years.
Martha is survived by a brother, Eric B. Johnson, a nephew, Henry B. Johnson, extended family and friends, and her beloved cats, Boots and Bandit.
An intimate lakeside gathering in celebration of Martha's life will be planned for late spring or summertime.
Donations in Martha's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers, Boston, Massachusetts and Animal Welfare Society, Kennebunk, Maine.
