Mary Jane Uhas

1958 - 2023

EAST BALDWIN – Mary Jane Uhas, 64, of East Baldwin, passed away on Feb. 3, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Winford Dean and Shirley Louise (Chamber) Webster.

Mary met her future husband, Andrew E. Uhas (formerly of South Portland, who is a disabled veteran of the United States Airforce), at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.  They were wed at the Bradford Church of God in Bradford, Arkansas on Dec. 24, 1979.  They graduated together from A.S.U. in 1983/1984; Mary jane with a B.S. in Mathematics and Andrew with a B.S. in T.V. Broadcasting.  They were married for 43 years.  They later moved from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Baldwin, Maine, where they have resided for the past twenty-six years.

Mary was employed as a senior programmer at Union Mutual/UNUM Insurance for twenty years.

She was a devout Christian and a former member of the Church of God in Bradford, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew, of East Baldwin, and her sister, Shirley Wells of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 10 from 4-7 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home , 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.  Interment will be at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
