Matthew James Merrick, age 43, of Portland, Maine, passed way on November 30, 2024.  He was born on October 1, 1981, to Michael R. Merrick and Debra J. Beckelman at Mercy hospital in Portland, Maine.

Known by his family as the "Matt of all trades", he worked as a Sous Chef, bartender, and pizza maker.  He liked to go to Dobra Tea in the Old Port with his mother to drink plum tea and eat treats.

Matthew was predeceased by his father Michael Merrick, stepmother Nancy Merrick, and his uncle Andrew Merrick.  He is survived by his mother Debra Kelly, stepfather Stephen Kelly, brother Tyler S. Kelly, stepbrothers Ryan and Micah Kelly, and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no services at this time.  A celebration of Matthew's life will be held in the summer of 2025.
