NAPLES – Melvin C. Johnson Jr., 41, of Naples died Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Maine Medical Center, Portland.

Melvin was born in Portland, the son of the late Melvin C. Johnson Sr. and Kathleen A. Viney Johnson of Naples.

Melvin graduated from Lake Region High School, Class of 2000.  Melvin went on to study business administration at Kaplan University, from 2008-2010.

Melvin was very passionate with any type of work that came his way.  He was the archetype for work ethics, which had served him very well in his 15 years working in commercial and residential carpeting.  He had a great reputation for quality work.

Melvin's character was ambitious, generous, diligent, and thoughtful.  Melvin always lived life large and had zero fear of living that big.  He was brave.

Melvin loved his friends and his family very much.  He leaves behind his mother, Kathleen A. Viney Johnson of Naples; five siblings, Kathleen A. Johnson, sister, of Portland, Raymond C. Johnson, brother, of Windham, Destiny J. Johnson, sister, of Windham, Kelly E. McGowan, sister, of Naples, and Nathan A. Johnson, brother, of Naples; twelve nieces and nephews.  Melvin also leaves behind a child from a previous relationship whom he cared for as his own, and his beloved dog.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
