Obituary

Michael L. Mallick, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, died on November 14th, 2023, one week before his 82nd birthday, with those he loved best at his side. Michael was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Hyman and Sylvia Mallick.

Michael owned a business selling central vacuum equipment in Massachusetts for 25 years. In 1993, after moving to Maine, he began a second career as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker in the greater Portland area, remaining active through his final days.

Michael loved to travel with his wife and family, visiting all 50 states, over 40 national parks, more than a dozen zoos, and every Major League ballpark. His passion for baseball extended from coaching his children in Little League to managing his own rotisserie league teams alongside his three sons for 35 years.

His family remembers him for his unselfishness, his warmth, his kindness, his quirky sense of humor, his enjoyment of life, his affection for his extended family and friends, and his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha; his three sons, David, Matt, and Joey; his two grandchildren, Caz and Jamie; his sister Bobbi Avant and her family of Nebraska; his sister-in-law Barbara Smith of New York; his brother-in-law Peter Smith and his wife Carol of Australia; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no service. Friends are invited to his residence on Saturday, November 18th, 1:00 - 5:00, to remember and celebrate his life.

The family wants to thank Dr. Jessica Bian of MaineHealth Cancer Care and her wonderful and caring staff, as well as the compassionate doctors, nurses and support staff of the Gibson Pavilion at Maine Medical Center.
