Obituary

PORTLAND - The family of Michael S. Sansone, who was loved and adored by so many, sadly announces his passing on October 4, 2023, in Portland, Maine.  He was 75 years old.

Michael was born December 31, 1947, in Portland, the son of Nicholas A. and Annabelle (Sparkman) Sansone.  Michael was raised in Deering Center, where he eventually raised his own family, and was a proud graduate of Deering High School.  He served in the United States Navy. Later he went on to work as a food broker for Keebler.

Michael was a proud son, brother, husband, and father.  He had a huge heart for those deserving.  He was a great protector and "neighborhood watchman." Michael always did what was right, friend or family, he was there for you no matter what.  Those lucky enough experienced his foolish play and banter.  What made it special was that it was always different, designed for you and you alone.  He put 100% effort into anything he pursued, whether it was work and setting an example of what true discipline is or in leisure, he always did it to its fullest.  Setting his sights on golf, hunting, or fishing, he was determined to achieve his goals and not give up until he succeeded.  Michael still holds the record for the most salmon caught in a single season at the Sebago Fishing Pier.  Watching his family excel in sports was another passion of his.

Michael was a member of the Elks, and the Rod and Gun Club.  Later in life he was an archery instructor at Howell's Gun Shop.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas, and Annabelle.

He is survived by his wife, Martha "Marti" (Wolfe) Sansone of Portland; his son, Nicholas Anthony Sansone; three grandchildren, Nicholas Anthony Jr, Daniela, and Nolan; and three sisters, Cathy, Julia, and Elizabeth.

He was a man of faith.  Never fearing death, he wouldn't want anyone feeling sorry for him.  He's in Heaven playing golf with some of his old buddies, and he's reserved a tee time for us when we're ready.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, S. Portland followed by a celebration of Michael's life at the E. Hobbs Hospitality Center for a time of sharing and remembering Michael.
