SCARBOROUGH - Mildred (Millie) Lavoie Decoteau, 94, passed away October 23, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine following a short illness.  Millie was born in Berlin, NH on April 12, 1929, daughter of Laurea J. Lavoie and Stephenette (Pare) Lavoie, owners of the Berlin Oil Heating Company.  Millie was raised in Berlin until the onset of WWII which required her family to move to Hartford, Connecticut for her father to support the war effort.  Following the end of WWII, the family moved back to Berlin and Millie was able to return to her much-loved Berlin High School class of 1947.

Millie is predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Leo H. Decoteau, a WWII Army Airforce veteran.  After his graduation from UNH, they moved to Cape Cod where Millie obtained her degree and certification as a Registered Nurse.  Millie worked as an RN at Cape Hospital for many years concentrating on Medical Surgical and Cardiac Intensive Care patients.

Millie was the secretary of Lavoie Motel Corporation in Old Orchard Beach spending summers in OOB and winters on Cape Cod and southern Florida.  Millie was a member of St. Margaret's Church in OOB and was a Eucharistic Minister at Cape Cod Hospital following her retirement.

Millie and her husband Leo moved to OOB and resided at Cider Hill in OOB and following her husband's death in 2014, moved to Scarborough Terrace where she was a resident for the past 5 plus years.

Millie is survived by her two devoted daughters, Pamela Decoteau Radley of Scarborough Maine and her husband Edward Donald Radley Jr. and Mary Decoteau Shaw of Raleigh, North Carolina and her partner, Paul Ordronneau.  Millie leaves one granddaughter, Amanda Radley Stork and her husband Matt Stork, of Romeo, MI and their three sons Nelsen Nevitt, Gerard Nevitt and Alex Stork.  Millie leaves one grandson, Edward Radley, III and his wife, Jessica Radley of Swansboro, NC along with their sons Edward Radley, IV, wife Katie and son Evan D Radley and their daughter Ella D. Radley.

A graveside service will be held at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023.  A celebration of Millie's life will be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org.
