Patricia Ann
Wedge
Jan 30, 1939 — Nov 5, 2022
Patricia "Patty" Ann Wedge, 83, of South Portland, passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by her loving family as well as some of her dear neighborhood friends on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Patty was born in Portland on January 30, 1939, daughter to the late Raiford and Nellie (Anthony) Wedge.
Patty may have lived a life full of challenges, but she never let that bring her down. She lived by her own motto, "it's a great life if you don't weaken." She was a lighthearted and kind woman who never met a stranger. She was always upbeat and willing to share smiles, laughs and her contagious energy.
Patty was most passionate about animals, babies, stuffed animals and arts and crafts. She could often be found walking along Bowers Street, with or without any number of neighborhood dogs, stopping regularly to chat with neighbors as she passed by. She found great joy in sharing birthdays and holidays with those she loved; especially her own. She would remind people of her upcoming birthday throughout the year, ending the conversation with, "and I'll thank you for the gift when I get it."
Patty spent the last 22 years safe, happy and content while in the care of Jerralyn Cadigan and her family. Her spark, positivity and loving presence will be deeply missed.
Patty is survived by her nephew, Brian Wedge of Standish; her dedicated and loving cousin and protector, Jerralyn Cadigan of South Portland; as well as many other cousins, neighbors, friends and fur babies. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Hale; and her niece, Sherry.
Patty's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the loving staff at Northern Light Home Care and Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Patty's name are encouraged to consider the Animal Refuge League or Northern Light Home Care and Hospice.
A private service will take place in Sebago Lake Village Cemetery in the spring.
