Paul Andrew Hutchinson, formerly of South Portland, Maine, died May 20, 2026. He was surrounded by love, with his three daughters and sons in-law by his side, as he took his last breath.

Paul was born on August 19, 1943 in Portland, Maine to Merle and Bertha (Betty) Hutchinson. He grew up in South Portland and attended South Portland schools. After his junior year in high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He was a radio operator, and never forgot how to communicate using Morse Code.

After serving in the Air Force, Paul returned home to Maine, worked at Cushman’s Bakery and Maine National Bank, and also welcomed his daughters Leanne, Jody and Sharon into the world. After his time at the bank, he obtained his Maine Real Estate license and started his real estate career with Mark Stimpson Associates, where he made many lifelong friends. His proudest accomplishment in the industry was when he purchased an ERA franchise, ERA Home Sellers. After owning it for many years, he sold it, but he wouldn’t stay out of the business for too long before he decided to become a real estate appraiser, working many years for Mainland Appraisal Company until his retirement.

On August 2, 1986, he married the love of his life, Delcia. They shared many years together, owning multiple homes and opening them up to all, especially to their 3 daughters and their growing families. They spent over 20 years together before Delcia passed away in 2005. Paul loved traveling, baking, gardening, boating, warm summer weather, fresh lobsters, collecting antique cars, and driving them in parades with his grandchildren in the rumble seat of his Ford Model A. Paul loved being a father, grandfather, and eventually, a great grandfather. He loved making everyone laugh, and he did it in his own special way until the very end. He had a giving heart and helped many people over the course of his life. He was very proud of the food pantry he started at his former church in Portland.

Paul leaves behind his three daughters who will miss him forever: Leanne Haddad and her husband Mike of De Pere, WI; Jody Hamilton and her husband Jerry of St. Mary’s Georgia; and Sharon Tuite and her husband Sean of Ellsworth, Maine. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Kelly Gusloff (David), Nicholas Haddad (Alexa), Maria Dyer, Dylan Libby (Alisha), and Haley White ( Zach), as well as step-granddaughters McKenzie Cote and Cassidy Hamilton. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Vincent, Henry and Millie Gusloff, Adrian Brokos, and Dominique Haddad along with step-great granddaughter, Ellen Crouse and his special niece, Christine Walp.

He is further survived by his brothers Peter and David, sister Julie, along with his sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Delcia; his brother Steve and sister Beth; as well as 2 nieces.

A private funeral service for family was held and a private graveside service will be held this summer.
