It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved aunt Polly Segal on Wednesday January 28th. She had declining health for a few years.

She grew up in Standish and was proud of playing Snow White in grade school. Polly graduated from Deering High School when her parents moved to Portland. Not long after graduation she met and married her husband Ralph Segal who became the Chief of South Portland police. A couple of years later they adopted a son and named him Kevin. He was the light of Polly's eyes and loved to travel with him.  Tragically though Kevin was killed in motorcycle accident at age 16.  Polly was truly heartbroken after that.  They enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling and traveling together.  Polly was also a true fan of Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Boston Patriots.  She would watch any and all sports.

She was predeceased by her loving husband in 2000. She has also lost some family members not too long ago, Her brother Raymond Webb and his wife Marilyn from Limington, her sister Marjorie MacLeod and her husband Ralph from South Portland and her mother Ruth Webb of Standish.

Polly is survived by her nieces and nephews Carol MacLeod Calvert, Holly MacLeod, Scott MacLeod and his wife Janice of South Portland and Pamela Webb of Limington, Rick Webb and Dorie Webb Spiller of Florida.  She also had several great nieces and nephews.  Polly also had a very close relationship with Christine Bradford, her partner Dave Bradley and daughter Mallory who Polly adored them like a daughter and granddaughter.  Mallory visited Polly often to play games and cards.  Polly worked at Len Libby's for a few years and maintained friends with several of them.  It was a perfect job for her since she had a sweet tooth for their chocolate.  Polly also had a couple of longtime friends Carlene Lajoie from New Hampshire and Carl Meyer from AZ who would play poker with and Polly loved to win.  Polly was ready to find a nice retirement home and found Sable Lodge.  She was very proud to have the title of the first person to move into Sable Lodge 9 years ago, on March 1st.  She thoroughly loved it there as she felt safe and enjoyed the delicious food there and musical entertainment.  Some would always play her favorite songs Elvira and Please Release Me. Polly was very friendly and made friends easily.  She spoke of how nice the residents and staff was there. She was loved by many who will miss her greatly.

A Burial will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 12:00p.m. at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
